What important ethical considerations should we take into account when drafting legislation around AI generated pornographic content?

Let’s discuss it during this interdisciplinary panel discussion!

Our experts will address the danger of deepfakes from four different perspectives:

ELSA Tilburg is in the process of organising the T ELSA Tilburg is in the process of organising the Tilburg Local Round of the ELSA Negotiation Competition (ENC)! The competition consists of a simulation of a negotiation between two parties. Two teams will represent a party to the negotiation, which will be evaluated by a panel of three judges.

The topic of the competition this year will be Technology Law! The winning team of the Tilburg Local Round will qualify for the National Round organised by ELSA the Netherlands and have the chance to compete against the best teams from the Local Rounds in Maastricht, Groningen and Amsterdam!
The National Round will take place in person on the 11th or 12th of May.

Before the competition, 2 workshops will be held online in order to help participants get valuable insights from experienced professionals on how to strengthen their negotiation skills. The competition will take place in the first two weeks of April, the precise date will be announced soon! On the 24th of February, the Competitions Committe On the 24th of February, the Competitions Committee of ELSA Tilburg organized the first Client Interviewing Competition (CIC) in the Netherlands!

The competition consisted of interviewing a client about a fictional scenario and presenting the client’s claims to the judges.

ELSA Tilburg is looking for four new Committee Mem ELSA Tilburg is looking for four new Committee Members! Two positions are open in the Academic Activities (AA) Committee, and two positions will constitute the new Auditing Committee of ELSA Tilburg. 

The Academic Activities Committee organizes a wide range of events that concern our studies: discussion nights, podcast, debates, workshops, study clinics and way more! 
We are looking for a Director and a Committee Member who will help us organize those events. 
As a Director, you will be actively implicated in the conception and organization of events. 
As a Committee Member, you will be involved in the making of the various events organized by the Academic Activities Committee. 

The Auditing Committee is a new committee, created each year in order to ensure transparency with regards to the financial management of ELSA Tilburg. Any ELSA Tilburg Member can therefore apply to be a member of the Auditing Committee, which will have the task to review the Treasurer's budget report, and to present their findings to ELSA members, guaranteeing the good management of the association.

Prostitution is a controversial topic in multiple Prostitution is a controversial topic in multiple countries in Europe and other parts of the world. While some strictly prohibit it, others, like the Netherlands, offer legal recognition and protection to people engaged in this activity.

We would like to invite you to an interesting Panel Discussion where you would be able to discover the legal frameworks for prostitution, together with our guests speakers: Marjan Wijers and dr Joep Rottiers. 

Marjan Wijers worked as consultant, trainer and researcher in the field of human trafficking, violence against women, sex workers’ rights and human rights in a wide range of countries. Currently she pursues a PhD at Essex University on human rights and sex workers’ rights. She is a member of SekswerkExpertise, the Dutch platform to advance sex workers rights. 

Dr. Joep Rottier is an independent researcher, obtained his PhD at the Utrecht University (Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology) in December 2018 on the effects of the sex industry decriminalization policy in New Zealand (Aotearoa). He is a board member of the Dutch Platform SekswerkExpertise, member of SWAD (SeksWerk Alliantie Destigmatisering) and member of Denktank Demus

🎯 Our objectives for this National Council Meeting will be to strengthen internal cooperation, amend and improve our regulations, and of course, making everlasting memories together.

ELSA Tilburg joins forces with the organizers to provide support to people affected by the earthquake strikes in Turkey and Syria.

Today (14th of February), FRONT together with the Red Cross will be on campus to collect (old) clothes, towels that will be sold to a kilo sale to get money which will be donated to organizations providing help to Turkey and Syria. There will also be an opportunity to donate money through Giro555. 

You can find them on the square at the University in front of the UB. There will be a stand from 10:00 to 15:00, but you can visit Front this whole week to keep donating (room E209, 10:00-17:00). 

We hope to see many of you there, as we believe that together, we can make a change! 💙
