The European Law Students’ Association or ELSA is an
international, independent, non-political, and non-profit making association
run by and for students and recent graduates. Founded in 1981, ELSA aspires to
provide its members with a platform to develop and acquire new skills, interact
with fellow students and experienced practitioners from various states and
legal systems across Europe, and be prepared for a professional life in an
international environment through mutual understanding, intercultural
cooperation, and the wide range of activities and projects offered by the
"A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity”
Our STEP programme offers our members the opportunity to gain paid legal work experience in a foreign country. The unique chance to professionally engage with a foreign legal system helps our members set themselves aside in pursuing their legal careers.
Our ELSA Law Schools, Delegations & Moot Court Competitions give participants the opportunity to make contacts with people from all around the world. They provide a combination of academic, social and cultural experience.
Next to academic trips and lectures, ELSA Tilburg hosts parties and study trips to various destinations. Join to get to know your fellow members.

ELSA has probably been the best decision I have made in my student life! Next to meeting
so many inspiring and like-minded people, being involved in ELSA has helped me in terms of personal development. The network aspect of this association is truly unique and I can truly recommend
anyone interested to become a part of it and experience it yourself.
"From a diffident, timid boy who never saw himself speaking amongst a group of people let alone leading them, to the confident, charismatic individual who has the privilege of leading his university's ELSA Local Group - my ELSA journey has been memorable, invariably imbued with meaningful connections and highly-enriching international experiences. ELSA is no mere law students' association; it is a supportive and loving family that inspires, motivates, and pushes you to realise your true potential.
Being a part of ELSA Tilburg made sense intuitively to me, from the first time I heard about it. My
background and my future both are international. The spirit of this association, to bring together law
students from across the continent, resonates with me as I hope it resonates with you. We are
living in a world where the boundaries between countries and cultures are becoming blurred,
leading to new frontiers, challenges, and opportunities. For me, the first part of rising to meet this trend is building relationships with the people who exemplify it. So this is the first reason why I encourage you to join ELSA Tilburg : for the friends you make
immediately upon joining, and the thousands of potential friends who are all a part of the wider
ELSA network. To take myself as an example, having recently graduated from Global Law, I am
now in the process of becoming an active member in my new university, all the way in Paris,
The second is this : by becoming an active member, which I also highly encourage, you will have
ample opportunity to enrich your law school education, via the acquisition of skills which I myself largely credit to ELSA : organisation, event-planning, team communication, interpersonal skills the list goes on. This being said, I fully encourage you to take the leap and join this wonderful association.
